AI-coded verbatims to PowerPoint decks, in one platform.
Institut Viavoice is a market and opinion research institute. We built a web platform that codes open-ended questions with AI, extracts result tables from Excel, suggests relevant charts and generates PowerPoint decks with native charts.
In a study, free-text answers must be coded one by one, then cross-tabulations are turned by hand into charts and slides. These steps are slow, repetitive and error-prone.
The goal: automate the bulk of the work while keeping the analyst in control of every step.
A Next.js application with authentication, driven by a FastAPI API. Long operations stream their progress live (SSE) so the analyst can follow along.
Choose the column to code, generate a code plan (themes detected in batches processed in parallel), code each response, validate, browse responses by code and export to Excel. The system prompt is editable, plan clarity can be checked and test responses can be generated.
Table extraction from Excel (merged headers, subtotals, bases and means handled), chart suggestions by an LLM from the files, and 100 % stacked charts in two orientations (Y by X or X by Y).
Selected charts are collected in a basket then exported as a PowerPoint deck with real native charts, directly editable by the team.
Google or credentials login, admin area, trial banner and user feedback. Frontend and backend on Google Cloud Run (Europe), files on Cloud Storage, secrets in Secret Manager, built with Cloud Build.
OpenAI LLMs for coding and chart suggestions, FastAPI and python-pptx for production, and Cloud Run for hosting that scales to zero when idle.
